KRU Esports has officially joined the Counter Strike 2 (CS2) scene with an Argentine team composed of players who used to compete together under the name PUBG Aim, participating in several open qualifier tournaments in 2024. The former PUBG Aim players will now represent KRU Esports in CS2 competitions.
Sergio Aguero’s esports team, KRU, partnered with Lionel Messi in November 2023. The famous Argentine soccer stars aimed to enter Counter Strike: Global Offensive with Messi investing in the team. This showed their interest in expanding into competitive esports like CS:GO as KRU looked to grow further in 2024.
Four months after joining the CS2 competitive scene, KRU Esports has now signed an Argentine team of players. They aim to establish this roster as well as develop an academy squad in the future. This will help KRU Esports accomplish their objectives.
KRU Esports Takes First Steps Into CS2 With Argentine Lineup
Previously, when Lionel Messi joined as a teammate, Sergio Aguero had mentioned that KRU Esports was considering starting a CS2 Academy. This academy would give talented Argentine players the chance to develop their skills. KRU Esports would coach the players and give them everything needed to improve and find success. The goal was to nurture some of Argentina’s most promising talent.
KRU Esports has shown their presence in the competitive Counter Strike scene by signing a full roster of talented Argentine players. While an academy team has not been formed yet, supporting homegrown talent from their country is meaningful. This marks KRU’s efforts to nurture local skilled players and establish themselves within the region.
KRU Esports has recruited players from a squad that once played together under the name PUBG Aim. This team participated in qualifiers for several CS2 tournaments. Some of the events they tried qualifying for include the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 SA RMR Open Qualifier 2, the IEM Chengdu 2024 South America Open Qualifier 1, and the IEM Dallas 2024 South America Open Qualifier 1.

The group had evidently attempted to get into the CS2 scene previously by hoping to mark the previous group of a Brazilian team called Paqueta in September 2023. Unfortunately, the arrangement didn’t work out as the group being referred to chose to sign with Red Canids, a gaming organization from Brazil.
KRU Esports previously found achievement in Valorant, rapidly rising as one of the top squads from Latin America. Now with a fresh roster, the organization aims to replicate that triumph while representing their new players.
