The first starters that will be eliminated are the starters from the previous Legends game. We can choose between Chikorita, Turtwig, Snivy, and Grookey for starters.
The starter Pokemon from earlier games are given new interpretations in the Pokemon Legends games. We’ll be investigating the potential starter Pokemon in Pokemon Legends Z-A.The beginning Pokemon that will no longer be options are the starters from the last Legends game. We can promise that Cyndaquill, Rowlett and Oshawatt will not return as the beginning Pokemon choices for this new game.
Pokemon Day surprised Pokemon fans with exciting news a new Pokemon Legends game exploring the Kalos region. Even better, players will finally get to experience Pokemon Z, a game fans have requested for over ten years. The Legends title takes us back in time to uncover Kalos’ mysterious past. We’ll encounter Pokémon in the wild and join in dynamic battles to learn the secrets of the region’s history. Pokemon Z also answers longtime calls from players who wanted to return to the Kalos stories. Both games offer new adventures and gameplay to enjoy across the beautiful lands of France inspired Kalos. It’s a dream come true for Pokemon fans eager to discover more about this beloved region.
The reveal of the upcoming game had excited fans of strategic games. Players of Pokemon hurried to ponder how extensive the game would be, what new powerful forms we might access, and most significantly, which initial Pokemon we could choose. In this article, we will try to respond to that final question.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus had an unusual method for choosing starter Pokemon. It selected starters from various regions and generations and combined them. The options were Oshawott from Unova in Generation 5, Rowlet from Alola in Generation 7, and Cyndaquil from Johto in Generation 2. What’s more, the final evolutions of each received a new appearance. These forms are referred to as Hisuian forms since the game centered around the Hisui region.
Starter Pokemon That Will Not Come to Legends Z-A
The beginning Pokemon that will no longer be options are the starters from the last Legends game. We can promise that Cyndaquill, Rowlett and Oshawatt will not return as the beginning Pokemon choices for this new game.
The next three Pokemon we can remove are the starters from the Kalos region. The Legends games revisit a location that has already received a game before. Though, they offer a fresh take on it. Pokemon Legends: Arceus transported us back to Sinnoh. However, this depiction of Sinnoh is unlike the one shown in the Generation 4 titles. The game places us in a primal Sinnoh, where folks still feared Pokemon.
This ancient region of Sinnoh was called Hisui long ago. The game did not give us starter Pokemon native to our homeland to begin our journey. So we can confidently say that the Kalos starters from distant lands will not be the Pokemon we receive at the start of our adventure in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Though they may not join us from the outset, it is fair to hope that we will encounter them living freely in the wilds.
Like the Kalos starters, we believe the Kanto starters are also ruled out for a similar cause. Pokemon X and Y allowed players to choose between two sets of beginning Pokemon. The starters native to the Kalos region and those from Kanto. Since the Kalos area had previously introduced us to the Kanto starters, it seems unlikely the locale will offer us the identical starters another time.
The next three Pokemon to be removed from consideration are the starters from the Hoenn region. The video games set in Hoenn, Ruby and Sapphire, received remakes in the sixth generation of Pokemon titles. In these remake versions, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the starter Pokemon gained new Mega Evolution forms. Since Mega Evolution abilities are returning in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, the developers at GameFreak may wish to provide Pokemon that previously lacked Mega Evolutions with new ones this time.
The latest group of starter Pokemon from the Paldea region, known as the Gen 9 starters, probably won’t be available. The starters introduced most recently in Generation 9 likely won’t show up as options. Game developers usually focus on highlighting new starters specifically for their newest games. This encourages people to purchase the main series titles where those starter Pokémon first debuted.

After stating all the Pokemon that cannot be chosen, here are all the Pokemon that can be used:
- • Totodile

• Skorbunny
• Grookey

Starter Pokemon That We Think We Will Get in Pokemon Legends Z-A
We will pick one Pokemon from each typing that we want to see as the game’s starters.
Totodile – Water Type
Totodile is one of the favorites from Johto region. It’s surprising that the cutest starter from that beloved region didn’t get more attention. Totodile deserves to shine in a new game because it’s the best Johto starter with a varied move list. Additionally, a new form or Mega Evolution would be the perfect topping for our small crocodile Pokemon.
Totodile, the big jaw Pokemon partnered with Ash from the popular Pokemon anime, remains a fan favorite character today. Retiring Ash from his longtime role as the anime’s main character, including Totodile as a potential starter Pokemon would showcase one of the companions that truly captured viewers’ hearts during Ash’s journey.
Turtwig – Grass Type
Little Turtwig, one of the less chosen starter Pokémon from the Sinnoh land, sadly was not in the new Arceus story. Now it’s Turtwig’s turn to be important. Even though not many pick Turtwig first, this cute Grass Turtle has a special look and some fans love it. Turtwig deserves another time in the sun.
A new evolution or form for Turtwig could lead to an exciting redesign and new strategies. This change would rekindle our passion for Turtwig while adding novel adventures for all Pokémon players to discover. Turtwig may gain powers befitting its next stage, along with a look that remains true to its original nature. Trainers young and old will enjoy learning how Turtwig’s transformation alters battle tactics. Game Freak seems poised to unveil imaginative updates that keep fans engaged for years to come.
Skorbunny – Fire Type
The Galar region introduced Skorbunny as one of its starter Pokémon. Since Generation 8 came out just before Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the developers were unable to include those new starters in the game. As we talked about earlier, Game Freak typically doesn’t want to feature the current generation of starters in games released while they’re still new. This made Pokémon Legends: Arceus the ideal time for the Pokémon from the Galar region to make their debut.
We opted for Skorbunny because not only is he an excellent Pokémon with an enjoyable design, but he also connects with the history of Kalos. Kalos draws inspiration from France. France is renowned for their football team and football club. The nation absolutely adores the sport, and Skorbunny is a football playing rabbit. We believe Skorbunny is a perfect match for the region and look forward to seeing if he gets included.
What We Want From the Starter Pokemon in Legends Z-A
The first Pokémon we meet are usually players’ favorite as they travel together from the start. Like many fans, we have hopes for what these Pokémon will be like. We want them to be helpful companions who make our journey fun and easy. I hope mine will be friendly, brave enough to battle, but also kind to other Pokémon. No matter what, our starter is special because it’s the Pokémon that was there from.
The Kanto starters were long overdue for something fresh. This could involve a regional form unique to their area or a Mega Evolution. Since Megas are returning, a new form seems unlikely but we still hope for one. It was the Hisuian variants in Legends Arceus that made the starters truly shine, setting them apart from before. Their new looks captured attention in a way the original designs had not for a while.
Additionally, as Mega Evolutions are coming back, we want the starters to get the Megas.
In addition, regardless of which three get selected as the main Pokemon, it would be great to discover the other starting Pokemon out in the wild just like in the Scarlet and Violet DLC. Finding starter Pokemon wandering the wild like in those games would be truly awesome.
GameFreak has received critique for choices in past games that lacked foresight. However, Legends Z-A seems to move the company in a better way, and fans can hardly wait to play. It is hoped that the experience meets enthusiast expectations for something spectacular, and introduces starters with novel attributes.
