Garena has officially announced the participation of an Indian team in the FFWS (Free Fire World Series) 2024 Global Finals, which will take place in Brazil in November. Despite being banned in India for two years, Free Fire’s max version is still available on the Google Play Store. This announcement is likely to bring joy to both fans and players.
India’s Inclusion and Exclusion
Garena initially listed India as a participant region for the FFWS 2024 Global Finals Brazil. However, on February 17, 2024, the corporation withdrew India from the list of participating countries, leaving the future of Indian teams in the event uncertain.
Global Participation and Format Of The Tournament
The FFWS 2024 Brazil will include 18 teams representing diverse locations across the world. Garena intends to hold regional competitions to choose these teams in Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Brazil, and, initially, India. The competition is the sixth edition of the World Series, with the best 18 Free Fire teams vying for large prizes and the coveted trophy.

Garena’s Objectives in India
As of yet, Garena has not announced any official tournaments in India. The question is whether Garena will distribute the original version or only the max version for events in the country. Despite the restriction, Indian teams have aggressively participated in third-party competitions, and several well-known organizations have disbanded their rosters.
Garena’s Past Challenges and Collaborations
Garena announced relationships with well-known Indian athletes in August 2023, including MS Dhoni and Sunil Chhetri. However, the game’s release date was pushed back, sparking continued curiosity. Due to a variety of factors, including COVID-19 travel limitations, no Indian team has participated in any edition of the FFWS since its inception in 2019.
Roadmap Of 2024
After being excluded in the previous three incarnations, Indian teams are set to participate in the FFWS in 2024, signaling a dramatic shift. Garena’s roadmap for Free Fire Esports in 2024 suggests a possible revival of Free Fire in the Indian gaming market.
