Tale
19-year-old Liana lives with her mother and sister in Frejus in the south of France. Due to her desire for beauty and fame, she auditions for the reality show “Csodasziget”. Agatha Riedinger’s film does not reproduce romantic clichés. It is surprisingly authentic and, like life, not sweet. Impeccable acting and development of characters that are difficult not to relate to. An excellent script that deliberately avoids trodden dramatic paths, with a maturity rarely found in debuts. The director hints at them, and then consistently leads us down another path. The reality of this film is far from the black-and-white simplifications that decades of patriarchal storytelling have taught us. The subject here is a woman. A wonderful movie, an incredible debut. 10/10.
